MORE ABOUT MY PRACTIE

IS PSYCHODYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPY OR PSYCHOANALYSIS RIGHT FOR ME?

Determining the best path for you is an important and highly individual question. The best way to explore the question is through a consultation with an experienced psychoanalytic clinician, who has been trained to help you consider such questions. A consultation usually involves several meetings in which the therapist will help you to articulate the nature of your concerns and goals, and help you decide whether psychoanalysis, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, or some alternative method is most likely to be beneficial for you.

WHO IS THE BEST THERAPIST OR ANALYST FOR ME?

A psychodynamic therapist or psychoanalyst will have advanced training and experience beyond graduate school. In addition to finding clinician with good training, it is of the highest importance to find someone with whom you feel comfortable discussing personal matters in an atmosphere of safety and acceptance.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

The first step of reaching out to a therapist can be daunting.  I am best contacted by email to inquire about scheduling an initial appointment. While email is discouraged for sending detailed personal information, I can answer many of your questions by email or set up a time for a phone call.   The first several sessions will be a period of evaluation – both for me to fully understand the reasons for which you are seeking help, and for you to get a sense of whether you feel comfortable with me and are interested in moving forward with working together.
