ABOUT ME

Training

I am a licensed psychologist and psychoanalyst.  My work with patients is based on the principals of psychoanalysis, whether I am working with someone in psychodynamic psychotherapy or psychoanalysis.

I completed my doctoral work in Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania in 1992.  In my early career I worked in inpatient and residential settings with adolescents and adults, with a wide range of needs and difficulties. This was an important foundation for understanding the depth and breadth of psychological functioning.  Following my PhD I completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Chestnut Lodge Hospital, post graduate clinical training in psychoanalysis at the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis, and began a private practice.  Since 1998 I have worked in independent private practice in Northwest Washington DC. I am an active member of the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis where I serve in multiple roles supporting the education and training of clinicians.

MY APPROACH TO TREATMENT

My approach recognizes the uniqueness of the individual. The goal of treatment is for the patient to understand him/her/themself more deeply, and in finer detail, in order to be free from past impediments and positioned to make life choices which lead to fulfillment.

I hope you will find my website helpful in figuring out answers to some preliminary questions related to beginning treatment.
